Flamefall by Rosaria Munda

I was eagerly anticipating Flamefall after the climactic ending of it’s predecessor Fireborne which I utterly fell in love with. I am happy to say that Flamefall is just as high stakes as ever. Again, it tackles revolution and uprising with nuance and understanding. The addition of another POV, Griff, adds another complex fully realized character to the dynamic. Of all the fantasy novels I’ve read, I think Flamefall is among the greats when it comes to its handling of the competing pressures of civil unrest, impending war, security vs. freedoms. This book is no sophomore slump, and is frustrating in the best way. Our young cast of characters tries to act on their convictions — and they suffer the consequences.
And THE ENDING.
Let’s just say I can’t wait to see how Munda wraps this up in the conclusion to the trilogy.
To me this series is quickly becoming a must-read for fantasy readers. And shows how we can still tell fresh stories in a medieval setting.
