This book was magical. It’s been a treat exploring fresh worlds written by debut fantasy authors. It’s always exciting to discover an author in the beginning of their career, and the last two books I’ve read have ensured I have two more authors to keep an eye on as they continue their craft. Empire of Sand hit the sweet spot for me in so many ways. An interesting magic system, subtle, soft, but powerful and written beautifully, a rich world, characters who make your heart bleed right along with them, some tropes/situations I love to read (and write). I enjoyed every moment of Mehr and Amun’s journey. I can’t wait to see what else Tasha Suri has in store.
