Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman

Can you tell I fell into a reading slump? I don’t blame it on this book. I gobbled up the first half back in January voraciously. But then I stopped reading. (Though, I also did an edit and re-read of my own chonker fantasy manuscript in early February, so, I guess you could say I didn’t so much fall into a slump as I got caught up by my own book.)
I finally finished Thunderhead, and, it’s fine. I didn’t love it. I won’t rave about it. It’s a fine, decent, book. I’m not super enthralled with where the narrative is going. The ending felt very action movie plot to me, and since this series deals with such life and death philosophical concepts, it’s a little bit of a letdown for PLOT to become the center of the narrative especially when it’s kind of divorced from these concepts. This might be a failure of me as a reader not managing my expectations appropriately based on what was presented in the text. But either way. I liked it, I didn’t love it, I will eventually finish this trilogy but for now I think I need a break from the world of Scythe.
