Rosemary and Rue: An October Daye Novel by Seanan McGuire
Started: 20 March 2020
Finished: 26 March 2020
I’m intrigued. This was the first book in McGuire’s series of novels about October Daye. Urban fantasy isn’t always my vibe, but at the end of the day if the characters intrigue me and the world is well-realized there’s a good chance I’ll be hooked regardless of the genre. I went into this book knowing it was an early work of the author, and so I’m excited to see how the world, characters, and writing grow and develop. I have the second book in this series, but I’m going to hold off on reading it right now, because I’ve committed a book sin.
I listened to roughly one third of The Kingdom of Copper by S. A. Chakraborty at the end of last year before I just stopped. Not for any reason, not because I wasn’t enthralled with the world, story, and characters (I was!), but just: because. I didn’t feel like listening to the audiobook. I continued to hold off on reading it because I was worried I wouldn’t have time to give it the attention I wanted to.
A silver lining of our current situation is that I certainly will have plenty of time to read The Kingdom of Copper.
