Welcome to Book Thoughts! Not reviews, just my thoughts on the books in my To Be Read pile.
I started this because last year I was an abysmal reader. School-age me would be ashamed of how few books I read. And since I’ve learned public accountability and external goals help motivate me, this will be the chronicle of my 2020 reading. Whenever I finish another book I’ll update this with my general impressions and what I’m reading next.
First up! The Institute by Stephen King
Finished: ~15 January 2020
Okay, technically I started reading this in 2019, but it’s officially the first book I finished in 2020.
I enjoyed it! Not all of King’s works are up my alley (I am a scaredy cat.) But telekinesis + government conspiracy is ALWAYS a win. If you are terrified of your own shadow like me, this is a book you can handle. It’s more of a dark adventure thriller with the vibe of Stranger Things (not even as creepy as that, in my opinion) than it is horror.
Finishing The Institute allowed me to dive into my Bookmas haul. And what a haul it was:
